Ingleborough Fell Race 2010
Ingleton Gala day hosts the fell race up Ingleborough each year which provides anexcellent race atmosphere with lots of spectators. The course was well lined with walkers and supporters and the rain held off for the race.
The course is a straight forward out and back course which is only steep and technical for the highest third of the race. The rest is fast running on wide tracks.
The fast nature of the first part of the course meant that three young (U23) runners set a hot early pace in preparation for their visit to the world trials in Snowdonia. Chris Steele managed to live with their pace and visited the summit with early race leader Harry Coates of Skipton AC. Once at the summit Chris easily opened up a substantial lead over his couterparts to take 1st place in 47.43. That is a long way off Mark Croasdales incredible course record of 44 mins.
Martin Holroyd was 29th for Borrowdale in 56.00 and Darian Bridge finished in 68.20 as 2nd V60.
1. Chris Steele - 47.43 (Borrowdale)
2. Harry Coates - 49.08 (Skipton AC)
3. Josh Tighe - 49.16 (Blackburn)
